| I had this same issue! If you use a curling tong with a large barrel, and then let the hair drop, it usually lies really nice and wavy (like rachel zoe's hair) and not curly. like this:

or, you can go to bed with your hair in a loose french plait, and then when u wake up and take it out, it's not so primp and proper; it's got a nice MK feel to it. (bumble and bumble surf spray is really good too) |

| | my hair is naturally wavy, but the top layers are also really frizzy. i always wash my hair at night with a good moisturising shampoo and conditioner, then i use a leave in conditioner through the ends of my hair. then i blow dry the top part of my hair so it stays flat and my parting into place. then i tie it into a messy bun for 30-45 mins, after that i leave it to air dry until i go to bed. when i wake up its got the waves but not the frizz and i usually put abit of serum in it and then i'm good to go. i use b&b surf spray when sometimes i wake up and the waves arn't very defined, or if i have to wash it in the morning. one tip i've learnt is to spray it onto your hands then scrunch it into your hair, so you don't get the crispy, hairspray feel to your hair. hope that helps x |

| i have a good method of doing it which suits my hair type- i ALWAYS wash my hair the night before with kerastase then spray with bumble & bumble surf spray then let it dry naturally so it turns out really wavy and slightly frizzy then in the morning then i get out the ghd's and whichever bits are too frizzy or wavy i sortof straighten out but when your "straightening" dont hold the iron and run it through the hair straight make an actual "wave" with them (sortof like a smooth zig zag) and from then you just practise with thicker bits of hair and the angle at which you "wave" and how big you make the wave then spray in the surf spray and voila! wavy tousled hair without the beach lol. hope this works for you guys! x
my way makes this sortof wave ratehr than the ones you posted-

| | yeah if you sortof flip the ghd to make an actual wave like doing a smooth zig sag then get smaller pieces and do tighter ones and from ther you can put the ghd on an angle and make it more individual, its the simplist way of getting real tousled waves rather than the actual spiral of a curl because thats not a proper tousled wave. on the 3rd pic, is what i mean by the smooth like rounded zig zag shape in single pices of hair, you can see it on the underneath pieces of nicoles!! hope it works out for you! x |

| I recommend Hot Tools 1 1/4 curling iron!

I have this one and I assure you, it's amazing to create that look! _________________

| i woke up this morning with the most amazing waves like that (which never happens because i have naturally straight hair) but its only like that because i went swimming last night in my friends pool and went to bed with unbrushed, chlorine soaked hair! maybe thats the key to fantastic waves |

| | I use my GHD's and just loosely curl the hair.. works really well. My hair has a natural wave to it anyway but it just enhances it. I never curl t too much as it can when using the GHD's go a bit too curly. |

| | my hair is naturally straight to so it can sometimes take a while for me to get my hair to go wavy! the only think i have found that works is straightners or if i sometimes put into a messy bun at night |
