What influences your clothing purchases?

I'm conducting a marketing assignment on consumer behavior. I'm interested in what methods you go through prior to making a purchase. Do you gather information from magazines, television, movies, window shopping do you raid your friends closets? What makes you choose the outfits you buy.

Any information you would like to share would be quite helpful.
