| i'm new too! i'm a college student in the twin cities (for all of you girls not familiar with the twin cities, it's the area made up of the state capital of minnesota, st. paul, and the city of minneapolis). it's in the middle of the u.s.. i live in minneapolis and i take most of my classes here but i've had a couple classes in st. paul. i go to st. paul quite often. i live 45 minutes away or so by light rail from the mall of america so that's nice! my story of moving to the city is very cliche! i chose to move here after high school because i'm from a very very small town in the state of iowa. my school name was an acronym of all 5 of the different towns that kids were bussed from to go to school together in the same building. we had to move to a new location when i was in 5th grade though because the building was condemned. my entire county still doesn't have any stop lights (just stop signs). also, the area is beautiful, there is a lot of farm land, but more methamphetamine (it's an aweful illegal drug that people get addicted to) is produced there than any other place in the world so that's good to get away from. i grew up very poor, in the country, and i never had anything to wear except for hand-me-downs or things from goodwill, and really that was fine because i never thought about clothes much when i was little so i got to get them as dirty as i wanted and just be a kid! i fell in love with fashion magazines and drawing in middle school and i never stopped! i'm used to being different because i always loved books and school and being creative and i'm so excited be surrounded by people who love those things too here at school! i love people watching in the city and i love people in general! also i love talking about fashion with you girls online of course! i'm studying speech-language-hearing sciences and speak fluent spanish. after i finish graduate school i'm going to be a speech-language pathologist and help kids who have learning disabilities and speech impairments. i could have chosen a career that pays better but i'd rather love what i do!
anyway though, i'm an expert at finding inexpensive things and i always give my honest opinion about everything |

| wow thats been a long story but it really touched me. on this board ive nobody seen admitting that she grew up very poor and didnt have many clothes and stuff. a lot are rather like the opposite. you seem to be a very very nice person who appreciates life. you are so welcome here! _________________ www.fashionkey.blogspot.com |

| aw thanks so much girls! you're all sooo nice! you all make this online community so welcoming, it's wonderful!
i totally agree violet, working with disabled kids is hard sometimes, but they are soo cute and it's so rewarding, that definately makes up for it!
and thanks deee, that's so nice of you to say!
i want to add that even though a lot of my story seems so negative, it's not as bad as it seems! i honestly didn't know i was poor for a looong time! looking back on everything, i appreciate how i've grown up because i think it has helped me to care more about how much i love things instead of caring if the price tag would impress people. i think that's something a lot of girls on this board have too! also, i'm not going to say i'm never jealous, but i don't think i need to own something to be inspired by it and appreciate it that's also something a lot of us have in common! |
